CAD + DFM Prototype Pack

Need an enclosure, bracket, or mechanism designed for prototype or low-volume manufacture? This package delivers CAD, DFM analysis, assembly drawings, and output files ready for 3D printing or injection moulding quotation.

CADDFMMechanicalEnclosure
Overview

What It Is

A fixed-scope mechanical design package. We design or revise your enclosure, bracket, or mechanism in CAD (SolidWorks by default), run a DFM analysis for your target manufacturing process, and deliver drawings and output files (STEP, STL, or drawings as required).

Fit Check

Who It's For

✓ Good fit

  • Hardware startups needing an enclosure designed around their PCB
  • Companies with a 3D-printed prototype that needs to transition to injection moulding
  • Teams whose mechanical designer left without final drawings or STEP files
  • Products approaching a quote stage needing DFM-ready outputs

✗ Not a fit

  • Complex assemblies with more than 10–15 unique components (needs scoping first)
  • Structural engineering or load-bearing civil/architectural structures
  • Projects with no PCB or electronic reference design to design around
Outputs

Deliverables

  • CAD model (SolidWorks + STEP format)
  • Assembly drawing with BOM and part call-outs
  • DFM analysis report for target manufacturing process
  • Exploded-view drawing for assembly instructions
  • 3D print-ready STL files (if FDM/SLA prototype required)
  • Injection mould design notes and draft angle analysis (if applicable)
Process

Timeline & Process

  1. Week 1

    Brief & Reference Review

Review PCB dimensions, component placement, and assembly requirements. Agree design intent.

  2. Weeks 2–3

    CAD Design

Enclosure/mechanism CAD with iterative client feedback.

  3. Week 4

    DFM & Drawing Pack

DFM analysis, assembly drawings, and exploded view.

  4. Weeks 5–6

    Revision & Handover

One revision round, then final files delivered.

What We Need

Requirements From You

  • PCB STEP file or mechanical envelope drawing
  • Target manufacturing process (FDM, SLA, injection mould)
  • Key constraints: IP rating, wall thickness, fastener preference
  • Any industrial design direction (colour, finish, brand guidelines)
Next Steps

What Happens After

You receive all CAD files, drawings, and a DFM report. Files are structured to hand directly to a fabricator for quotation. A 14-day post-handover window covers questions on the design files.
